JOHN LOBB

John Lobb, possibly the finest shoes for gentlemen in England past and present.

Established in 1849, John Lobb's rich heritage is reinforced by timeless qualities of craftsmanship, service and style. The company continues to maintain its bespoke shoe-making tradition, while also retaining core bespoke principles in the manufacture of its expanding ready-to-wear collection of shoes and leather goods. In recent years they have collaborated with Paul Smith and Aston Martin, making some distinctly colourful and edgy additions to the collection.

Why mens shoes? Well the London business man is a beautiful thing to see; the suit, shirt, tie, socks, shoes. Their mad, seemingly non matching colours, and patterns look absolutely fabulous. A well dressed Englishman is truly something to behold, and as we know, shoes can really make or break a look. Prince Charles just happens to be a known fan, and long term client, and he is not the only one. The list of famed and fortuned goes back for close to 150 years
. Wooden moulds of all these famous feet sit on dusty shelves on the premises of the flagship store.

Check out this circular building. Fabulous huh! Shoreditch Grind just happens to have great coffee, yummy simple food PLUS it becomes a bar by night AND is a recording studio. What a combo! Architecture, coffee fix, a snack, knock off drink and a little recording. Lovely! The shop signage mimics an old time movie cinema sign board, and the tag under the name (Shoreditch Grind) is regularly changed. Today's tag is "Please do not feed the models"… hahaha!

ELIXIR FESTIVAL - KnowBody

Sometimes you see a performance that really touches you. Last night I went to KnowBody, part of the Elixir Festival at Sadler's Wells in Islington. KnowBody is a dance performance that celebrates the lifelong creativity and legacy of older artists, all over 60, and many of whom have returned to the stage from retirement after 20 years or more. It's a beautiful mix of beauty, grace, joy, humour and wisdom.

There was a series of short performances. All left me with more than the simple joy of the performance. I am left thinking about life, the lifecycle, priorities, purpose. I felt their subtle messages as they explored movement, age, and change, and am left pondering.

The basis of happiness? As young adults we are passionate about finding a career, we are focused and work diligently towards this, just as these dancers did. This one thing…career… will end. If our joy is attached to that, then aren't we setting ourselves up for a great sense of lose later in our lives? We need to find joy in all things. A pure constant joy that remains unaffected by circumstance. It reminds me that every day is as important as the next, regardless of my work, circumstances or age. I am reminded to love it all, and make sure all my days are filled with the people who make me smile and my heart sing. Thank you Company of Elders for your subtle yet powerful message.

OBLIX @ THE SHARD

Oblix. Now this is not a hidden treasure you needed me to find, it's an overt one there readily available and obvious to all, nevertheless it is a treasure grand and true. We booked a table at 7:30pm. We asked for a window but no one ever gets a window. We walk in along the slick dimly lit wooden corridor into the sultry bar and dining space. Greeted by our beautiful waiter dressed in a stunning Ted Baker dress we get escorted to our table. We got a window! and what a view! Oh hello there tower bridge all lit up looking regal…Thames…Gherkin… Seriously stunning.

Why is it a treasure? Well for me it's the space, it's sophisticated and glamorous and the view? well it's the whole of London. Amazing!

PERCY & REED

Such a gorgeous day in London today, definitely the best blue skyest, sun warmest day I've had here so far, and boy oh boy did I find lots of treasures. Didn't know which one to share so put them in a pile, closed my eyes, and pulled out one.

The winner… Percy & Reed… a hair dressing salon x 2 (east and west London) with their own product range. It just happens to be the name of my nephew too apart from one small spelling adjustment from an "e" to an "i".

So… as for the salon (east). It's a great fit out, has cool looking staff and a great atmosphere. Go and enjoy the experience. They also have a "care" and "styling" product range, as well as travel and gift packs. The unique packaging was created by Sibling & Co. and is a series of fabulously beautiful women with extraordinary hair, all done in black & white. A fun and sexy twist. Who wouldn't like to have hair like these glamazons!

    AUTHOR

Thinking about all I've written and said about Jayne Reid.

I'm writing this because she's going far away,
So something profound I want to say,
So Jayne Reid if I may,
You are the only person I know, who has truly "lived her life her way."

In spite of the highest highs, and lowest lows,
Onward and forever upward she goes,
    How far nobody knows!
