KEW NEIGHBOURHOOD
Kew is known for its charming blend of culture and convenience. It's close enough to the city to be convenient, far enough away to get out from the hustle and bustle. It offers scenic tree lined streets with a mixture of architectural styles, vast parklands including walking & bike tracks, quality groceries, fresh produce and gourmet delights, plus a diverse range of unique cafes and restaurants. Whether you're in the mood for a quick coffee fix or a leisurely brunch with friends, Kew's cafes provide a delightful array of options to satisfy every palate. All of this and you're only 7 kms from the heart of thriving Melbourne city.
Studio 58 is a short walk away from public transport, the Recreation Centre (currently under re-construction), a fabulous contemporary art museum (Lyon Housemuseum), and High Street (the main thoroughfare into the heart of the shopping strip) You'll find wonderful providores, cafes and restaurants. You'll find quality groceries at Toscanos (fruit & veggies) , Woodfrog bakery, and Cannings butcher. There are many quality cafes and restaurants to choose from, some of my personal favourites include Ora Cafe, Frank & Harri, Xocolatl (they make the most delicious hand made chocolates - truly special), Cru and Centonove. You'll find these detailed in the link below with all accompanying links. In addition the Yarra river and parklands are a beautiful 10 minute walk away, and within the area you can do bush walking, hire row boats and play golf. We really have the fortunate lifestyle blend of city and nature here in Kew.

TRAM
Two trams run through Kew - number 48 & 109. The 48 has a stop at the top of DIsraeli Street on High Street (stop 36) and therefore the closest and most convenient. It goes out to Box Hill from our side of the street, or into the centre of Melbourne city from the other. It runs along Bridge Road (Richmond) into the CBD along Collins Street. It runs every 15 minutes and takes approximately 25 minutes to take you into the centre of Melbourne city. |
BUS
The closest bus stop is a short walk (7 minutes) down the bottom of our street and across a small park to Asquith Street. The 302 and 304 bus lines run along this street either into the city on our side, or out in the other direction towards Doncaster on the other. It runs every 30 minutes and takes approximately 20 minutes to take you to Elizabeth & Lonsdale Streets in the city (not quite as central as Collins Street where the 48 tram takes you). |
TAXI / UBER
Takes approximately 10 minutes and costs $10 - $22 depending on the time and demand. |
WALK
Melbourne centre is 7kms away and takes approximately 1hr 35 minutes to walk into the centre. |
TRAIN
Kew doesn't have a train station. The closest station is Glenferrie Station in Hawthorn. Walk to the T intersection of Cotham and Glenferrie Roads (10 minutes). Catch the number 16 tram down Glenferrie Road 6 stops. You'll find the station on the same side. Trains run every 15 minutes and take 20 minutes to arrive at Flinders Street station. |
