TASK

I fell deeply in love with Task within seconds. Every single thing jumped out at me and I wanted it all. I was covered in goose bumps and really quite excited. I'm always seeking out treasures…hidden gems…and am almost never drawn to EVERYTHING in a single place. I was here (especially the woollen beanie with pink fur pom poms!).

Their "goods" come in the following categories; home + table, clothing + accessory, jewelery, apothecary + bath, paper + office plus gift cards. So essentially they have all aspects of daily life covered. The gift cards never expire or lose value. Reading that put an instant smile on my face. Such a thing is far away from the usual commercial machine. There is a sense of true sharing and exchange taking place here.

Upon reading through each of the categories on The Details tab of their website my fondness grows even further. Founder Anne Seally has a pure and simple philosophy for Task, one that mirrors mine almost exactly. She writes "Objects are the tools that bring meaning to our daily rituals, and living with objects we love can make us happy. When well designed, they survive year after year and age with grace." When we fill our homes and tasks with objects crafted with love we enhance our lives. <3

CAFE BARI

Let's kick off the blogging year with fresh and fabulous fruit salad from Cafe Bari New York! I'm sitting in a beachside cafe as I write this knowing that its icy cold in New York right now, but when I was there late last year it was still warm enough to enjoy their warm weather treats, including a delicious yoghurt parfait with fresh fruit. Just look at that fruit salad complete with pomegranate (glistening jewel of the fruit world). Yum!

Cafe Bari opened its doors back in 1993 and now has 2 cafes in Manhattan. Both dedicated to quality with a conscience. They serve La Colombe fair trade coffee, and Vegware cups for those who'd prefer to down their coffee on the run. They make all their own baked goodies and pastries and use Sullivan St Bakery for their rolls and sandwiches. Simplicity with integrity. Do they have wifi I hear you ask - NO - "We don't have wifi, talk to each other, pretend it's 1993" - Brilliant! I stayed on long enough to indulge in a freshly squeezed juice and hot chocolate, and let me say, both were perfect!

GANSEVOORT MARKET

This buzzing market is an artfully curated selection of locally produced goods and food outlets. The building itself part of the original markets of the late 1800's, has been revamped and is a contemporary communal space filled with fabulous fare with plenty of space to eat, entertain and hang our with friends.

This place has got it all; wall to wall delicious food that just happens to have exceptional branding and a great crowd. The atmosphere is upbeat and the food delicious. I would happily go every day until I've sampled from each of the 24 individual stands. My first stop was Mission Ceviche. Absolutely perfect! Super fresh and deeeelicious. I'm also a true fan of Tacombi. A fun name, great styling and scrumptious tacos. My taste buds were tingling as I went off to meet friends for a night of Salsa.

I'll definitely be back!

    AUTHOR

Thinking about all I've written and said about Jayne Reid.

I'm writing this because she's going far away,
So something profound I want to say,
So Jayne Reid if I may,
You are the only person I know, who has truly "lived her life her way."

In spite of the highest highs, and lowest lows,
Onward and forever upward she goes,
    How far nobody knows!
